The recently renovated Sol Marbella Estepona · Atalaya Park is located just a few metres from the beach between the resorts of Marbella and Estepona.
First opened in 1968, Atalaya´s Old Course is one of the finest courses on the Costa del Sol. The wide generous fairways undulate gently between mature trees and flowering shrubs providing shade and all year colour. The frequently elevated greens can make club selection interesting and their subtle contours need careful judgement to sink those all-important putts.
Ideal for walking, the Old course offers magnificent views of La Concha and the Mediterranean, as well as lakes and streams populated by many species of water birds, including our two resident pairs of swans.
The Old Course was designed by Bernard von Limburger, one of Germany´s foremost golf course architects, responsible for 74 European courses.Building on this heritage, we manage a multi-year investment strategy to maintain and improve the presentation and playability of the Old Course. Each year Atalaya hosts a number of professional tournaments, whilst always offering a fair test of golf for players of all levels
Opened in 1990, this Paul Krings designed course presents an intriguing test of golf. Paul Krings has been responsible for the design of a number of European golf courses, including the prestigious GC Schloss Maxlrain in southern Germany. Set in the hills above the Atalaya Old Course, the New Course rewards accuracy off the tee, rather than out and out length. A number of the fairways and greens feature slopes and elevation changes, requiring careful shot selection.
The course provides wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, the Mediterranean and Gibraltar and thanks to its location away from busy roads provides a tranquil setting in which to enjoy your round of golf. Wildlife abounds throughout the course, including the lake on the picturesque 4th hole and there is a natural wood in the centre of the course, featuring cork oaks, olive and carob trees. Although there a few climbs, the course is perfectly walkable, however in the heat of the summer players are best advised to hire a buggy.
Facilities include a new Splash Park and playground, new mini clubs, three outdoor swimming pools (one for kids), multi-purpose sports court for basketball, athletics, volleyball and handball, clay tennis courts and a full-size football pitch, all set in more than 50,000m2 of gardens. Preferential conditions with the 18-hole Atalaya Golf course only 4km from the hotel and with the full-size and five-a-side football pitches at Atalaya Alhambra Golf only 500m from the hotel.
